Wheel Thrown Wood Fired Salt Glazed Cup with Decal Collage Images

This piece fired in my barrel arch, woodfired kiln in early December, 2022. This was a 20-hour firing that achieved about 2300 degrees Fahrenheit.
Within this firing were a series of cups, mugs, vases, platters, soap dishes, spoon rests, and tea caddies.
The decal images are fired on during the third, and sometimes, fourth firing of the piece. I often use images of modern popular culture borrowed from billboard painter turned American Pop Artist James Rosenquist. This particular cup is a commentary on the proliferation of gambling across the nation and how it has potential to "grenade" our economy.
