This double-handled vessel was thrown on the potters wheel and when leather hard, coated with a porcelain slip. Only the interior was glazed with a food-safe glaze. The piece was then fired in the University of Notre Dame wood kiln for 7 days last autumn. The surface was finished with a coating of soda. This was added to the kiln at the end of the firing when the kiln was over 2400 degrees. All my work is waterproof due to a combination of the clay body and firing temperature.
