This 36 fluid ounce volume vessel displays a double stripe of clay slip that was gleaned from the inside of turn four of the Marion County Fairgrounds, Iowa during the Knoxville Nationals Sprint Car race in August of 2018. The collared neck was painted with a wide stripe of red iron oxide. The subtle toasty warm brown color variation around the belly of the pot is the result of the flame path during the wood firing. The inner surface was glazed in a food safe white satin matte. This flower vase weighs 1.25 pounds empty and would make a great centerpiece for a holiday dinner.
This was vase was in a 24 hour wood firing that was completed during the Saturday-Sunday after Thanksgiving, 2020 and achieved an overall temperature of 2345 degrees Fahrenheit.
